Switzerland—Paolo Basso Wine

Residing in Lugano in the Ticino region of Switzerland, Basso was named World’s Best Sommelier in 2013. He produces three wines, all named after his daughter Chiara. Merlot is the dominant grape grown in the Ticino region, and Basso produces a white Merlot (Il Bianco di Chiara) as well as—unusual for the Ticino—a blend of Merlot with Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc (Il Rosso di Chiara). Basso consults on the trade, including providing lectures on how to pair food with wine. His sommelier prowess means that what he produces must excel before he puts it on the market.

Il Bianco and Il Rosso di Chiara wines are available in store.
